West Ham thrown Euro lifeline
West Ham may be clutching at straws with our hopes of clinching European football next season but it seems Premier League results may have gone our way this evening.
With The Hammers battling Newcastle United for seventh place, the Magpies travelled to Selhurst Park only to face the same fate as West Ham by losing 2-0 to Crystal Palace.
It would still require a miracle for David Moyes to claim a 4th consecutive season of European football next season, particularly with Eddie Howe’s Toon team still having a game in hand. There remains a glimmer of hope, however, following Chelsea’s thumping at the hands of Arsenal yesterday.
Moyes will need to beat Klopp’s Liverpool on Saturday
West Ham entertain Liverpool at the London Stadium on Saturday in what would normally be a tricky fixture. However, Jurgen Klopp’s team have damaged their title chances with a 2-0 loss in the Merseyside derby against Everton and must now travel to London for the early kick-off.

But the club fear the central midfielder will follow in the footsteps of his teammate Lucas Paqueta in pushing for a move to a top club this summer.
It’s been an excellent first season in the Premier League for Alvarez after nailing down a place in the West Ham midfield.
The Hammers have struggled when he’s been unavailable in the middle of the park, with his robust style of play leading to him picking up a couple of suspensions.
