‘Wolves’ biggest hater’ – Gabby Agbonlahor fumes at West Ham controversy live on air

West Ham United: Gabby Agbonlahor fumes at controversy v Wolves live on talkSPORT Gabby Agbonlahor was stunned live on talkSPORT after Wolves’ saw a late Max Kilman goal disallowed as West Ham won 2-1 at the London Stadium on 6 April.

Agbonlahor, who went as far as to dub himself “Wolves’ biggest hater” due to his Aston Villa allegiance, argued that Lukasz Fabianski would not have saved the effort even if the offside player was removed.

He then went on to fume that constant refereeing mistakes are costing teams points, with Wolves the latest club to drop points at the hands of the officials.

Speaking live on talkSPORT [8 April, 06:07], Agbonlahor shared: “I’m not a fan of Wolves, I get a lot of stick from their fans after derby games with Aston Villa over the years, but even Wolves’ biggest hater wouldn’t want to see that goal disallowed.

“They’ve had a lot of decisions go against them and I feel sorry for Gary O’Neil. The player standing in front of the keeper is not blocking the keeper. The keeper isn’t going to save it anyway.

“I just can’t get my head around it. David Moyes must be in that changing room like ‘We got away with one there’. It’s not hard to understand, these mistakes they’re making are costing teams.

Wolves defender Kilman saw his late headed goal disallowed after it was judged there was an offside player blocking the goalkeeper – despite there being no chance Fabianski would have saved it, as Agbonlahor detailed, causing plenty of drama near the end.

The call has proved divisive, with Jamie O’Hara and Jason Cundy arguing live on talkSPORT as O’Hara insisted the goal should have stood, while Cundy explained that by the letter of the law, the right call was made by the VAR.

When it comes to dropping points after controversial decisions, West Ham have also been hit by their fair share of controversy, most recently in the Newcastle defeat as the Magpies were awarded a penalty much to the annoyance of Micah Richards and the delight of Alan Shearer.

As Agbonlahor pointed out, Wolves have dropped points due to a mistake from the officials, but we mustn’t pretend they are the only team to have been effected. These things happen, and they happen to every team.

In other West Ham news, Neil Lennon was stunned by James Ward-Prowse.
