“What a total Waste” | Seagulls Unhappy With West Ham. Brighton & Hove Albion are said to be highly unimpressed with the lack of game time for on-loan striker Evan Ferguson.
The Seagulls forward joined West Ham during the January transfer window, with the expectation that he would receive significant minutes on the pitch. The move came after a sustained period of injury and a struggle to break back into Brighton’s first team.
With former Brighton boss and current West Ham manager Graham Potter pushing hard to bring Ferguson to East London, it was believed the move would benefit all parties.
Unfortunately, that hasn’t been the case. The young Irish striker appears to be surplus to requirements at the London Stadium and has yet to start a game for the Hammers.
This has come despite injuries to both Michail Antonio and Niclas Fullkrug, and an ongoing lack of goals from West Ham.
Understandably, Brighton are viewing the short-term loan deal as unsuccessful. A source told Claret & Hugh: “The player would have got more game time staying at Brighton.”
It’s therefore no surprise to learn that West Ham will not be pursuing any long-term interest in Ferguson after what can only be described as a failed transfer.
