West Ham striker Gianluca Scamacca believes that any club signing him will land a bargain option, given his quality in the final third.
In an interview with Cronache di Spogliatoio, of which an excerpt has been shared by Calciomercato [24 July], the Italian has, in no uncertain terms praised his abilities to the T. He has failed to go on record to state that his future lies at the London Stadium amid links to Roma, as cited in the article above.
He said, “For two years my Instagram has continued to be studded with posts from the transfer market in which I am tagged. For many, I’m an unexpressed talent: I know I still have hidden qualities, but I’m 100% sure whoever gets me gets a bargain.
“I think I just miss being in the right place at the right time. What will it be? We will only find out by living”.
Had Scamacca been focused on the West Ham project, he wouldn’t be doing interviews like this and would’ve been more focused on pre season.
It was simple to say that a lot had been said about his future but his attention lied on being in the best shape possible ahead of the new campaign.
It’s fair to admit that he did not have a good firsts season in the Premier League and it shows ambition to promise better things in the coming 12 months.
This interview seemed more like a come-and-get-me plea and this will not be something that fans will want to hear.
It remains to be seen how David Moyes handles this situation and whether or not Scamacca will be at the club for the first game of the season.
If he does leave, they need to get a decent transfer fee for his services as he’s undoubtedly one of their biggest assets who cost a lot of money to buy last summer.
