This week, West Ham United have started to get linked to Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres.
Reports in the English media claimed the Hammers are one of the clubs who’ve been sending emissaries to watch the player in action.
Newspaper A Bola today has a story covering those claims, and they add some information which may discourage West Ham from making an attempt.
The outlet starts by writing that, after signing for Sporting last summer, Gyokeres is well protected with a contract until 2028 and a €100m release clause.
Then it’s claimed that the Lions actually have an ‘attractive’ project which matches the striker’s desire of ‘catapulting’ him to a ‘top Premier League club’
That may be a reason why West Ham may not sound like such an attractive option for the player, as well as Brentford, who have also been linked to him.
Sporting spent €20m to sign Gyokeres from Coventry City in the summer, following a great season he had in the Championship. He’s off to a good start with the Lions, with four goals and four assists in 13 matches, and is now valued by Transfermarkt at €32m.
