West Ham United: Tim Steidten to cost ‘hefty compensation’ fee to leave amid Liverpool news
West Ham United will demand a “hefty compensation package” for technical director Tim Steidten to leave the London Stadium.
That is according to the Sunday Mirror, with the publication reporting in its print edition (page 77, 18 February) that the Hammers are confident he will stay at the club.
It comes amid interest in the technical director from Premier League rivals Liverpool [Florian Plettenberg, 31 January].
“His work has impressed Liverpool, who are targeting a new sporting director,” according to the Sunday Mirror. “However, it would require a hefty compensation package to prise him away.”
Steidten to leave West Ham for Liverpool?
The Hammers did a fine job in bringing the talented Steidten to the London Stadium not so long ago, and it would be a big blow if they were to lose him so soon.
The technical director, who has been given a lot of responsibility in East London, is seemingly enjoying himself at his current club.
But interest from a Premier League giant like Liverpool may just prove too tempting, especially given how strong the Reds currently look.
Jurgen Klopp’s men lead the way this season, although they are set to lose their beloved manager at the end of the campaign.
Perhaps that will influence any decision from Steidten, who seemingly doesn’t exactly have the best relationship with Hammers manager David Moyes.
Should West Ham do all they can to keep Steidten?
The silver lining for any London Stadium exit is the compensation fee involved, with the East London club certain to garner a hefty fee for Steidten, particularly if he was to join heavyweights Liverpool.
While his future is uncertain, Moyes finds himself in a similar situation, although there are currently advanced talks in place over a new deal for the man in the dugout.
