West Ham really are a truly special club after official Liverpool Carabao Cup announcement

West Ham United are all set to face Liverpool at Anfield in the third round of the Carabao Cup next week.

Liverpool played host to West Ham in the Carabao Cup last season as well at the quarter-final stage, but the less said about that night the better.

We are a new side now with Julen Lopetegui at the helm, at least half of the team who started at Anfield back in December will not be anywhere near the squad next week.

Liverpool have already been dealt somewhat of a blow ahead of the game, with the news that Harvey Elliot will miss out through injury.

West Ham face Chelsea at the London Stadium today, and that will obviously be the only game on the minds of Lopetegui and his players.

However, I really feel like next week up at Anfield will be a really important game for us.

A big cup win away at a team like Liverpool would go a long way to Lopetegui getting the fans onside quickly.

One thing’s for sure, the Hammers will be supported to the hilt by the travelling Claret and Blue army.

West Ham are massive after Liverpool Carabao Cup announcement

We all know how difficult it is to go to Anfield and get any kind of result.

Let’s face it, the Hammers have won only once there since 1963 – a 3-0 victory way back in 2015!

The cards are stacked against Lopetegui and his players, but an official announcement has just been made proving that they will be backed to the hilt.

According to West Ham’s official website, our away allocation of 5,819 tickets has already been sold out!

The tickets sold out to Bondholders, Season Ticket Holders and Claret Members.

And the song goes, West Ham really are massive everywhere we go.

That’s because the Hammers have sold out their 5,819 ticket allocation at Anfield for next week’s Carabao Cup clash with Liverpool.

West Ham fans deserve huge credit

The Hammers have won just one major trophy since 1980 – the 2023 Europa Conference League.

In spite of that, the West Ham fans have filled out Upton Park, and then the London Stadium, consistently during those 43 years between trophies.

That’s regardless of what division we were playing in!

Meanwhile, our away support is widely regarded to be right up there with the best in the country, if not the best.

Sure, we are a little demanding at times but why shouldn’t we be? Not many fans would stick by their club through 43 years of trophy-less seasons!

Hopefully Lopetegui will bring some sustained success to the Hammers.

But even if he doesn’t, the fans will stick by the club as we always have done in the past.

After getting smashed 5-1 by Liverpool at Anfield in the Carabao Cup in December, for West Ham to sell out the away allocation against the same team, at the same ground, and in the same competition just 10 months later really is quite something.
