West Ham plotting move for Newcastle’s Veteran right-back

West Ham plotting move for Newcastle’s Veteran right-back. West Ham United is considering a move for Newcastle United’s Kieran Trippier as they are interested in bolstering their right-back position ahead of the start of the Premier League season next week, according to Mike McGrath and Sam Dean of The Telegraph.

Trippier, already 33 years old and one of the most veteran England internationals part of the Euro 2024 contingent that finished runner-ups to Spain, has been a key figure for Newcastle since joining from Atletico Madrid in 2022. It’s hard to envision his departure and it would surely hard, but if it happens it’s fair to assume it’d be for the best for both parties as NUFC aims for the moon in footballing terms and Trippier is on the decline.

According to the aforementioned report, Trippier is among the potential candidates to fill the right-back role under new Hammers’ manager Julen Lopetegui.

West Ham has already completed many signings, however, which might impact the financial power the club can still boast when it comes to submitting a proper bid at the right and acceptable value for Trippier. The list of new Hammers includes Max Kilman, Crysencio Summerville, Niclas Fullkrug, Guido Rodriguez, and Luis Guilherme.

It’s been reported that West Ham tried to get Manchester United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Southampton’s Kyle Walker-Peters but negotiations for their acquisitions have stalled, prompting the club to explore Trippier as a cheaper and more attainable option.

Trippier is under contract with the Tyneside club through the end of the 2024-25 season, so Newcastle might actually try to sell him now and get something in return rather than losing him for nothing next summer.

It’s worth noting that Trippier was linked with a move to Saudi Arabian clubs last January followed by an approach by German superpower Bayern Munich, although the Three Lions international and NUFC decided to stay together for the remainder of last season.

Some reports are talking about West Ham submitting an offer of around the £8 million the defender is valued at on Transfermarkt. Trippier has appeared in 54 international matches for England and contributed throughout their Euro 2024 run starting six of seven matches. While at Newcastle, Trippier has scored 4 goals and assisted 21 in 92 appearances, including all 6 Champions League outings played by the Magpies in last season’s group stage.
