West Ham playing a dangerous game as Hammers take unprecedented action with Fullkrug

West Ham playing a dangerous game as Hammers take unprecedented action with Niclas Fullkrug. We still don’t know when Niclas Fullkrug will be back in action for West Ham United.

Niclas Fullkrug suffered an injury whilst away on international duty with Germany back in September, but he was supposed to be out of action for just a couple of weeks.

However, he still hasn’t returned for West Ham.

The West Ham hierarchy still have faith in Fullkrug, and reportedly want to keep him at the London Stadium, but as things stand, it could easily be argued that we’ve wasted a serious amount of cash.

In fairness, many of us called it at the time – it never felt like a good signing.

The Hammers should have signed a young, pacy striker instead. We’re stuck with Fullkrug now, and the club have resorted to unprecedented measures to address his injury problems.

West Ham take unprecedented action with Niclas Fullkrug. With the German still out injured, and no return date in sight, the Hammers fans are wondering if we will ever see him at his best for us.

I can’t help but think that we only have ourselves to blame.

According to The Evening Standard, West Ham have ‘sought alternative remedies from those usually used for such an injury’, in a bid to get Fullkrug back to fitness.

Quite what those ‘alternative remedies’ are is unclear, but it seems risky to me.

Surely the old tried and tested methods would be the best course of action.

The main takeaway from all of this though is why on earth did Tim Steidten think that signing an injury prone 31-year-old striker for £27.5 million would be a good idea?

It was gross negligence if you ask me.

Why didn’t we just all out for Jhon Duran? I guarantee you, if we would have done, we wouldn’t be in the position we’re in right now.

Niclas Fullkrug may well come good for West Ham, who knows? Right now though, the outlook seems to be pretty bleak, and it remains to be seen whether or not the ‘alternative remedies’ work.
