West Ham player wants to re-negotiate future stay at season end – Potter decision likely key. Two days ago, Nación Fútbol stated Club América could used their special relationship with West Ham United’s Guido Rodríguez to bring him back to the club.
The midfielder enjoyed his three-year spell with the Mexican club before joining Real Betis in 2020. He left Manuel Pellegrini’s side and arrived at West Ham as a free agent last summer.
W Deportes look at how América can sign the West Ham player and provide his stance on a possible transfer.
The Argentine international has lost prominence since Graham Potter replaced David Moyes at the London club. He hasn’t featured for the Hammers since coming off the bench against Aston Villa on January 26th.
Rodríguez’s contract expires in 2028 and he’s valued at €15m by Transfermarkt. This is also the fee reportedly needed to take him away from West Ham.
The Mexican club wouldn’t have a problem offering €15m to sign the World Cup winner. They aren’t the only club chasing him as River Plate, Rodríguez’s former club, are also interested.
River Plate are said to have made initial contact and therefore, W Deportes say América have to step up, if they want to sign him in the summer window.
At this point in time, Rodríguez has refused to negotiate and wants to wait until the end of this season before making a decision on his West Ham future.
