West Ham player has a serious case of delusions of grandeur as report makes stunning new claim

West Ham striker Danny Ings has serious case of delusions of grandeur after report’s stunning new claim. Danny Ings did everything he could to remain on his hefty salary at West Ham United in the summer transfer window.

West Ham signed Danny Ings from Aston Villa in January 2023, but he has been awful for us, scoring just four goals in 53 competitive games.

Why Doesn’t Monaco Have A National Football Team?

Julen Lopetegui desperately tried to move him on in the summer transfer window, but was unsuccessful in doing so in the end.

However, it was recently suggested that Danny Ings could still leave West Ham to join a club in Holland, Portugal, Denmark, Norway, Croatia, Austria, Czech Republic, Turkey or even Saudi Arabia, with their windows still open. It seems like the experienced centre-forward has other ideas though.

The latest report doing the rounds just proves to me that Ings has lost touch with reality, as harsh as that may well sound.

West Ham striker Danny Ings must be delusional

So it has emerged that Ings actually thinks he can force his way into Lopetegui’s starting lineup.

Give Me Sport claims that Ings is ‘determined to force his way into Lopetegui’s plans after failing to find the right move in the transfer window’. Sure, he scored a hat-trick during a 60 minute friendly game against Dagenham and Redbridge this week, but come on, they’re a National League side.

Seriously, the 32-year-old is so far off being at the levels required to play in our side right now. Niclas Fullkrug and Michail Antonio are both well ahead of him in the centre-forward pecking order at the moment.

And even if those two cannot play for whatever reason, Jarrod Bowen or Mohammed Kudus can fill in through the middle. The former Burnley, Liverpool, Southampton and Aston Villa striker should be nowhere near our starting XI as far as I’m concerned.

Danny Ings a terrible waste of money for West Ham

The 32-year-old has proven to be an atrocious signing by the Hammers, and it’s incredibly frustrating that we all saw it coming when Moyes brought him to the London Stadium. The fact that the Scot agreed to pay £15 million to bring him to the club in January 2023 still baffles me.

Ings was never suited to the way that the Hammers play, especially under Moyes, and his legs have clearly given up on him at the very highest level. He has scored just four goals for us since he swapped Villa Park for the London Stadium 19 months ago.

Getting him off the wage-bill should have been one of the Hammers’ main priorities in the summer, but the powers that be at the club were unsuccessful in doing just that.

Danny Ings clearly won’t be leaving West Ham before his contract expires in the summer of 2025, and all we can hope for is that he contributes for us at least once between now and then. If he really thinks he has a chance of getting into the West Ham starting lineup, he must have a serious case of delusions of grandeur.
