West Ham transfer twist as insider reveals shock Dembele offer. West Ham United have been offered the chance to sign Moussa Dembele, according to Sean Whetstone.
The Irons insider revealed via his personal X account on 20 January that Al-Ettifaq could allow the 28-year-old to leave during the ongoing winter transfer window. Graham Potter’s side have, therefore, been approached by agents about the possibility of acquiring the Frenchman’s services as they continue their search for a striker.
Moussa Dembele fallback emerges for West Ham
Dembele would not be an exciting signing for West Ham by any means as he quit European football in favour of a move to Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia in 2023.
The former Celtic frontman has since bagged 20 goals and five assists from 43 appearances across all competitions for Steven Gerrard’s side, but is yet to achieve success there.
And, it appears Al-Ettifaq are prepared to offload him now, which does not sound promising for Potter’s side
However, it would be wrong to snub the chance to sign Dembele entirely just because he is currently playing in the Saudi Pro League, especially considering the Hammers are still looking for a new centre-forward.

At 28, the striker still has a few years left in him. It is also worth noting that he had a fruitful time in his most recent stint in Europe with Lyon, bagging 56 goals and 11 assists in 129 Ligue 1 appearances.
Should West Ham not be able to sign any of their top targets in attack, there is no fault in bringing Dembele in on a short-term deal as they look to strengthen their frontline in Michail Antonio and Niclas Fullkrug’s long-term absences.
