West Ham make ‘formal loan offer’ to sign player – Purchase option would be included

West Ham make ‘formal loan offer’ to sign player – Purchase option would be included. West Ham United have made an attempt to sign Benfica’s Arthur Cabral in the winter market.

The striker joined the Portuguese club from Fiorentina in August 2023 and managed 11 goals and three assists from 41 games last season. Bruno Lage replaced Roger Schmidt in September and Cabral’s game time has reduced since then.

He’s clocked in 544 minutes from 20 games this season, managing five goals and an assist, and West Ham are ready to offer the 26-year-old an escape route.

That’s according to UOL, who state the Hammers and Torino are keen on signing Cabral and both have made ‘formal loan offers’.

The Premier League side and the Turin club are ready to include a purchase option, but this didn’t please the Eagles, and they rejected the two proposals.

The Brazilian’s deal lasts until 2028, and Benfica internally consider him ‘negotiable’ as long as there’s a convincing offer for a permanent transfer.

UOL make no mention of the fee request by Lage’s side or whether West Ham will return with a new offer to buy Cabral in January.

Niclas Füllkrug, Danny Ings and Michail Antonio are the recognised strikers at West Ham. Antonio is set for a long spell on the sidelines and therefore, the Hammers are looking to sign a new striker in this window.
