West Ham United set to agree 7-figure permanent sale days after new contract signed. West Ham are in talks with FC Copenhagen over a deal to sell goalkeeper Nathan Trott, according to The Athletic.
Adam Leventhal reported via the outlet’s website on 10 June that negotiations were “ongoing” but there was an expectation that a fee of around £1million would be agreed.
Trott only signed a new two-year contract to remain with the Hammers a matter of days ago, with Roshane Thomas reporting, also for The Athletic on 29 May, that the club had triggered an option for the 25-year-old who has spent the past two seasons on loan at Vejle Boldklub.
But that appears not to mean his stay in East London actually lasts any longer than it would have done if his deal had been allowed to expire.

While it might seem indecisive to re-sign Trott and then quickly enter into talks to sell him this outcome may have been on the cards all along.
Although it had previously been reported as the extension came out that the expectation was for him to continue his development with another loan in England the chance to bank a fee for a third-choice goalkeeper who has just one senior appearance for the club looks to have been too good to turn down.
Although the progression is slightly different for keepers, at 25 the time has arguably come for Trott to establish himself somewhere long-term after playing just once despite spending his entire career contracted to West Ham.
If Copenhagen want him then it looks like a solid opportunity for the former England Under-20 international.

The Danish side may have finished third in the league last term but regularly qualify for the Champions League, and with Alphonse Areola and Lucasz Fabianski ensconced ahead of him at the London Stadium he doesn’t look to have many immediate prospects with the Hammers.
Developments so far this summer show that nothing is nailed on until it is signed so talks could still fall through but it looks like this departure is going ahead in what is already shaping up to be a busy summer.
