West Ham United transfer update emerges on £21million Albert Gudmundsson
West Ham are the favourites to sign Genoa forward Albert Gudmundsson, according to Paul Brown.
Writing for the Daily Mirror‘s print edition [23 January, page 48], Brown added that Genoa want at least £21million for Gudmundsson.
Fellow Serie A side Lazio are also in the hunt for the Iceland international, who Genoa are reluctant to lose, but West Ham lead the way.
Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips is expected to become the Irons’ first signing of the January transfer window on an initial loan deal [The Guardian].

West Ham are clearly in the market for a centre-forward and Gudmundsson appears to tick many boxes.
The 26-year-old is a good age and has showed this season in an elite league that he knows how to find the net.
Gudmundsson has scored nine times in 19 appearances, while also chipping in with a couple of assists.
More importantly, while Gudmundsson is capable of shifting out wide if needed, he is more of a pure centre-forward.
The Hammers have a number of wide forwards in their squad, but someone capable of leading the line and scoring regularly is required.
The £21m price tag is also reasonable in the current market, it must be said, so this is a deal that could benefit all three parties.
