West Ham United transfer news: Conor Coventry to Sheffield Wednesday on ‘life support’ amid Charlton medical update
The deal to take Conor Coventry to Sheffield Wednesday from West Ham now looks “very unlikely” to take place, according to The Sheffield Star.
The newspaper reported on its website on Thursday (11 January) that a source has described the 23-year-old’s permanent move to the Championship club as being “on life support”.
The former Republic of Ireland youth international now looks set to join Charlton Athletic after talkSPORT journalist Natasha Everitt tweeted on Thursday that the midfielder is having a medical with the League One side.

It comes as no surprise whatsoever to see Coventry move on from West Ham during this transfer window after he’s struggled to break into the first-team picture at the London Stadium.
The Hammers academy product has been handed very few opportunities to impress in East London after being sent out on loan numerous times over the past few years.
The midfielder has made just 10 appearances for the club, with just one of those matches coming in the Premier League.
Although it doesn’t matter too much where he goes this month, everyone associated with the Irons will wish him well as he looks to forge a successful career in the game for himself.
A move to Chartlon could potentially offer him more first-team opportunities and it will mean he can continue his development in his home city of London.
