West Ham bizarrely reject bid for player that would have made us a £2.5m profit – report

West Ham bizarrely reject bid for player that would have made us a £2.5m profit. So the time has come for West Ham United to start moving some players on in order to balance the books.

West Ham have enjoyed a terrific transfer window so far, with Julen Lopetegui having brought eight new players to the London Stadium.

The Hammers head coach wants even more new arrivals though, and is demanding two top-class players in every single position. However, the Spaniard must shift some of the deadwood first this summer, before he can make that happen.

There are plenty of players who clearly don’t stand a chance of featuring under Lopetegui, so moving them on before the transfer window closes should be a priority. Lopetegui’s squad overhaul will be a long-term process. He’s got the signings spot on this summer, but now he has to get rid of the players who simply aren’t good enough.

Bringing in some cash to make sure that we adhere to the new PSR guidelines will be a big bonus as well. West Ham bizarrely reject Luizao bid. The 22-year-old centre-back has been at the London Stadium for 19 months now, and he’s still languishing in the under-21s.

That tells us all we need to know really doesn’t it.

So according to Brazilian publication UOL, West Ham have knocked back a £2.5 million bid for Luizao.

The Hammers rejected bids for Luizao back in the January transfer windows, and we’ve apparently done the same again now. We are reportedly now demanding £4.2 million for him – a hugely unrealistic fee if you ask me.

If true, rejecting £2.5 million for the South American (all profit by the way) is a baffling move by the powers that be at West Ham.

    Luizao on no man’s land

The 22-year-old joined the Hammers on a free transfer from Sao Paulo in January of 2023, but he is still yet to make a senior appearance for the club. However, he did show some promising signs for the under-21s last season.

He showcased his aggressive and tenacious tackling, and proved that he is extremely combative in the air. That said, it’s clear that Luizao isn’t anywhere near being ready to play first-team football for West Ham – Lopetegui would have given him a chance during pre-season if he was.

I’m sure that Corinthians will not pay anything like £4.2 million to prise Luizao away from West Ham.

So the Hammers owners will have to lower their demands for the centre-back if they want to make a quick profit. If that doesn’t happen, the 22-year-old will be stuck in no man’s land at the club whereby he won’t be playing first-team football, whilst being priced out of a move away.
