West Ham bid labelled ‘ridiculous’ as details of transfer offer explained. West Ham United’s bid to sign Brian Brobbey from Ajax has been labelled as ‘ridiculous’, with the details of their efforts revealed today.
Algemeen Dagblad, via Voetbal Primeur, cover the transfer situation today after West Ham moved for the striker yesterday.
Reports in the Netherlands explained that West Ham were targeting Brobbey and had offered him €100,000 a week in wages. That was followed by a report today stating he had travelled to London today.
Initial reports stated West Ham had made a loan bid for the striker, and that Ajax were instead looking for a €30m plus €5m in add-on package.
AD now say that West Ham instead made a loan proposal which included at least at least €30m in future payments. Their information comes from ‘sources around the player’. Ajax technical director Alex Kroes has not yet responded.
He would prefer to sell the striker in the summer, but a lucrative winter transfer could help Ajax become more financially stable.
According to the newspaper, the later payments West Ham proposed were based on various clauses that were ‘certainly not easy’ and ‘not sufficient’ for Ajax. That is why it seems they want to negotiate the deal.
For Johan Derksen, though, West Ham should not be considering paying what they are currently offering.
“It is ridiculous that West Ham United will get that man. You know one thing at Brobbey, he doesn’t score,” Soccer News report him saying.
“In England he has to drive on the left, he gets an English breakfast… This is a boy who does not adapt easily, we have seen that in Germany.”
