West Ham United defender who also plays for the Czech Republic National team Vladimir Coufal could face serious sanctions at the London Stadium after what happened while on Czech Republic duty on Sunday.
Coufal, alongside Jakub Brabec and Jan Kuchta, were all sent home early from international duty for violating the Czech Republic’s internal rules, after the trio visited a nightclub in Olomouc on Saturday 18 November.
The Czech Republic FA on 20 November shared (via Sky Sports) said the trio had “fundamentally violated the internal rules of the national team” and will be returned to their respective clubs as punishment.
The way Coufal has conducted himself since being out of the West Ham side for a large period of last season has been excellent and he deserves great credit.
After working his way back into the starting lineup towards the end of last year, he has nailed down the spot at right-back and there are certainly no questions being asked about his selection anymore.
His performances so far this season have been hit-and-miss at times which certainly begs the question of whether he is West Ham’s long-term solution at right back.
At the ripe old age of 31, it certainly is time for West Ham United to start having an eye towards the future as the Czech international may not be at the required level for much longer.
However, this latest development out of the Czech could have serious repercussions for him back at West Ham United and Moyes must axe him for the game at Burnley on Saturday (25 November) as such behaviour, especially from an experienced footballer, should not be tolerated.
Given Coufal’s importance to Moyes and his team, it will be a sad blow to lose the Czech international in such a crucial encounter but his behaviour and actions for his country cannot be condoned at all.
Moyes will certainly be livid and must exert his authority at the club by axing the former Sparta Prague full-back for Saturday’s game at least.
