View: Sullivan to surely consider Moyes sack as stat emerges after 3-0 loss v Manchester United

West Ham have been enjoying themselves for the most part this season, both in the Premier League and the Europa League.

But they were sent a fresh reality check against Manchester United in the former, with the Red Devils defeating the Hammers 3-0 on Sunday (4 February).

Old Trafford played host to the league clash, one which the visitors had a chance of taking something from had they been more clinical in the final third.

But it was the hosts who instead stormed to all three points, with Alejandro Garnacho netting a brace after Rasmus Hojlund opened the scoring.

West Ham to consider Moyes sack?

Old Trafford is a stadium that Moyes knows very well, having managed the Manchester outfit once upon a time. But it is not a venue that brings up many happy memories for the Scot, who has never won a Premier League match away to Manchester United, with four draws and 13 defeats [Squawka, 4 February].

While worrying, that statistic should not force David Sullivan into major action, but another statistic just might. As per Squawka [4 February], the former Everton and Sunderland boss has now lost more Premier League matches than any other manager in the competition’s history, with 239 defeats to his name.

Of course, not all of those have come with his current club, but it may just kick Sullivan into taking serious action, with no club wanting to have such a tag associated with them.

According to journalist Andy Dunn (21 January), the boss would have been under “serious pressure” had West Ham lost to Sheffield United last month after they were dumped out of the FA Cup by Bristol City. Incidentally, the meeting with the Blades ended 2-2.

Conversely, The Telegraph (29 December) reported that the boss is in line for a new two-and-a-half-year deal. It is hopefully the latter scenario that transpires, with Moyes having done a superb job at the London Stadium.
