Two players could follow manager to West Ham if he gets job after Moyes – report

West Ham United: Maurizio Sarri could bring two players with him if given job from Lazio. Should Maurizio Sarri be given the manager’s job at West Ham, he could look to bring Alessio Romagnoli and Matteo Guendouzi with him from Lazio, according to Il Messaggero.

The Italian news outlet reported on 19 April that a budget of £43million could allow the boss to make moves for the players who have flourished under his leadership in Italy

It is said that Romagnoli is “reborn” under Sarri’s management, while Guendouzi, formerly of Arsenal, has had difficulties on and off the pitch during his time in Italy.

Double transfer news emerges at West Ham amid manager update

Sarri has been linked with the potential vacancy at the London Stadium and appears to be proactive in looking to strengthen the team – although the report also linked him with a move to Newcastle should Eddie Howe leave.

Romagnoli has become the latest centre-back to be linked with a move to the London Stadium amid widespread criticism of Kurt Zouma, Konstantinos Mavropanos and Nayef Aguerd for their inconsistent and mistake-prone displays.

Guendouzi, meanwhile, is more of a workhorse-style midfielder who would provide competition to the likes of Thomas Soucek. While the latter has been favoured by David Moyes, it seems Guendouzi would be Sarri’s first choice for the role.

West Ham have enjoyed some huge wins at the London Stadium.

Both transfer deals, of course, rely on Moyes leaving his job first of all – a subject which remains up in the air – and then for the Hammers’ hierarchy to choose Sarri as his successor rather than other bosses linked to the job.

In other West Ham news, a defensive clearout is on the cards in East London.
