Tottenham target ‘irritated’ with lack of offers – Wants situation sorted quickly

As Tottenham Hotspur continue to be linked to FC Porto striker Mehdi Taremi, Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manhã features some interesting information on the player’s current situation.

According to their report, the 31-year-old is actually ‘irritated’ that no offers arrived for him this summer so far.

It’s claimed that despite several approaches, no bids were made, and that has been making him uncomfortable at Porto.

Correio da Manhã writes that Taremi wants his future sorted as quick as possible, regardless if he’d move to Tottenham, AC Milan, Inter Milan or even stay at the Dragons.

The striker was the Portuguese League’s top scorer last season, and rumours about his exit to other European clubs have indeed been ongoing for months now.

Even though it’s the Italian clubs who’ve been more heavily linked to him lately, local newspapers have been claiming that Harry Kane’s departure from Tottenham may now accelerate Spurs’ pursuit of him.

Taremi is currently valued by Transfermarkt at €18m, but the word in Portugal is that at least €30m is needed to take him from Porto this summer.

Read also: Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet has been linked with a move away from the Spanish club in recent weeks.

The 28-year-old Frenchman was on loan at Tottenham last season and he did well for the London club.

There were rumours that Tottenham could look to sign in permanently upon the expiry of his loan deal. But the North London giants decided to send him back to his parent club.

Lenglet is unwanted at Barcelona and the Spanish outfit are looking to get his wages off their books.

Barcelona are hoping to finalise his transfer very soon and Tottenham could now accelerate their pursuit. The player already has ‘an agreement in principle’ with Spurs as per SPORT.

The North London outfit have sanctioned the departure of Harry Kane and they have the funds to bring in the necessary additions now.

It remains to be seen whether Tottenham can get a deal for Lenglet across the line.

It is no secret that Spurs need to add more quality and depth to the defensive unit. Although they have signed Micky van de Ven and Ashley Phillips, they could use another central defender and Lenglet would be a useful option.

The 28-year-old knows the club having played for them last season and he is well-settled in the Premier League. He could make an immediate impact at Tottenham next season.

Ange Postecoglou prefers a free-flowing attacking style of football and he will need a reliable defensive unit at his disposal. Lenglet will certainly help Tottenham tighten up defensively.

Spurs conceded 63 goals in the league last season and improving their defence will be crucial to their hopes of securing Champions League qualification.
