Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly ready to sell Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the summer transfer window.
According to Marca, Atletico Madrid want to sign Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Tottenham Hotspur.
The La Liga club have already approached Premier League outfit Tottenham for Hojbjerg.
Spurs have told Atletico that they want €40 million (£34.36 million) in transfer fees for the 27-year-old Denmark international central midfielder. According to Marca, that is too expensive for Atletico.
However, the Spanish club have not given up on signing the £100,000-a-week (SalarySport) Dane.
Marca has claimed that Atletico like “Hojbjerg” a lot, adding that the midfielder himself is “looking for a change of scenery” and wants to leave Tottenham.
Tottenham paid Southampton £15 million in transfer fees for Hojbjerg back in the summer of 2022.
Tottenham Hotspur should do Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg deal on their own terms
In our opinion, Tottenham Hotspur should not feel under pressure to sell Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the summer transfer window.
We do not think that Spurs should lower their demands for the 27-year-old.
After all, Hojbjerg is a midfielder who has been a success in the Premier League and is at the top of his game at the moment.
We can understand why Atletico Madrid would not want to pay the transfer fee that Tottenham are looking for the Denmark international.
After all, it is all about negotiations in the summer transfer window.
Hojbjerg may want to leave, but he has a contract with Tottenham until the summer of 2025.
If Tottenham refused to sell the midfielder, then there is nothing that he could do.
The 27-year-old has made 218 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.
Hojbjerg has scored 12 goals and given 15 assists in those games.
The Tottenham no. 5 scored four goals and gave five assists in 35 Premier League appearances last season.
