Tottenham hold loan talks with striker who almost won France World Cup

Tottenham have held further talks over a loan move for Paris Saint-Germain striker Randal Kolo Muani.

The Frenchman joined PSG from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2023 for £79million having scored 26 goals and assisted 17 in 50 matches.

But he has struggled to kick on for the Ligue 1 champions, netting nine goals last season while he has added just two to his tally this campaign. Luis Enrique has limited him to two league starts in 2024-25.

Kolo Muani almost won France the 2022 World Cup final when he faced himself through on goal against Argentinian stopper Emi Martinez at 3-3 in the 120th minute.

However, the Aston Villa custodian closed the gap and blocked his half-volley with an outstretched leg. It is seen as one of the greatest saves of all time, as Argentina went on to win the penalty shoot-out and see Lionel Messi lift the trophy.

Ange Postecoglou’s side are facing competition from Juventus for the 26-year-old’s signature.

Asked about Kolo Muani’s future at PSG last month, manager Luis Enrique insisted: ‘I could speak about it but I won’t because my decisions say it all, even if as I have said, all of my decisions can be changed.’

Kolo Muani has three-and-a-half years left on his contract with Les Parisiens, with the deal reportedly worth upwards of £200,000-per-week.

He has had a fascinating career story, rising from the French third tier to PSG in the space of three years.

He was plying his trade on loan at Boulogne in the Championnat National as recently as the 2019-20 season – and even played one match in the fourth tier for parent club Nantes in 2020-21.

However, he broke into the historic side’s first team and, after two solid seasons, earned his move to Frankfurt, where he scored 23 goals in a prolific 2022-23 campaign.
