Tottenham are preparing a bid for a Premier League defender who wants to join the Postecoglou revolution.

Tottenham are preparing a bid for a Premier League defender who wants to join the Postecoglou revolution. Tottenham Hotspur could convert their serious interest in Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo into a concrete bid imminently, according to a report.

Centre-back is an area Tottenham are eager to strengthen as the Ange Postecoglou era gets underway. Debates as to whether they should bring back Clement Lenglet after his loan spell from Barcelona are ongoing.

Beyond that, Tottenham are aiming to add extra personnel to their defence anyway. They have been narrowing down their shortlist, which includes Micky van de Ven, Edmond Tapsoba, Marc Guehi, Joachim Andersen and Ashley Phillips.

Another name Tottenham are increasingly likely to move for, according to Football London, is Adarabioyo from Fulham.

Into the last year of his contract at Craven Cottage, Adarabioyo has attracted the attention of various clubs. Aware of potential competition for his signature, Spurs may have to accelerate their plans.

Per the report, ‘there is a growing expectation’ that Tottenham will submit an offer to Fulham for Adarabioyo ‘sooner rather than later’.

Their pursuit has been buoyed by the discovery that Adarabioyo would ‘be keen on a move to Tottenham’ if they firm up their interest.

Tottenham target ready for next step

At the age of 25, the former Manchester City academy player could be ready to take the next step in his career. Given the changes Spurs need to make in defence, there could be a role for him in north London.

There is no European football on offer at Tottenham next season, but they will be hoping Postecoglou can steer them back towards where they belong. Hence, it could be an intriguing project for Adarabioyo to sign up for.

The size of any bid Spurs have planned for Adarabioyo remains unclear, as does Fulham’s asking price.

But Tottenham could test the water soon for a defender who would count towards their homegrown quota in another benefit to buying him.

Adarabioyo made 29 appearances for Fulham last season, contributing towards his all-time tally of 107 for the club – of which 58 have been in the Premier League.

He could be a more reliable option for Tottenham to turn to than the players they are willing to get rid of, such as Davinson Sanchez, Joe Rodon and Japhet Tanganga.
