Tottenham Hotspur have now returned to north London to begin their pre-season training ahead of the new campaign.
Ange Postecoglou‘s side returned to Hotspur Way over the weekend and have since seen players drip feed back into action.
Heung-min Son returned earlier this week after enjoying a couple of extra days off having flown back to London from South Korea.There were even some new faces arriving at Spurs training for the first time over the weekend with Archie Gray signing earlier in the week.
Tottenham have also seen January signing Lucas Bergvall has finally joined up with his new side after making the move from Swedish side Djurgardens.
Lucas Bergvall admits he’s found first week at Tottenham challenging
Spurs have seen a number of promising youngsters signed over recent windows but perhaps none more so than Bergvall.
The Swedish midfielder has proven himself to be a seriously exciting talent who is going to provide Tottenham with a new option in midfield.
Although he is joining up with his compatriot Dejan Kulusevski and with high expectations surrounding him, there will still be a lot of adjustment needed for the 18-year-old.
Bergvall has admitted that he has found something difficult during his first week in training with his new side.
Speaking to the club’s website, Bergvall shared his honest thoughts on how he has found his first few days training under Postecoglou.
“It’s going really well, this is a fantastic club with amazing players and amazing staff, so I’m really happy to be here and start pre-season,” Lucas told us after training on Monday,” he said.
“Training has been really good, tough as well, so much speed and power. So, yes, it’s been tough, totally different from Sweden, but it’s fun as well. It’s a really important time for me, important to get to know everyone before the season starts so we can form that good connection.”
How much football will Lucas Bergvall play at Tottenham?
Postecoglou has a really interesting decision to make for the upcoming decision when it comes to the starting XI in his midfield.
The Australian struggled to nail down his strongest starting three with form and injuries seriously hindering Spurs in the middle of the park.
However, the 58-year-old is going into the new campaign with some seriously exciting options at his disposal.
Of course, Spurs are going to need to rotate their starting XI regularly this season with a much busier schedule due to their Europa League qualification.
With Bergvall and Gray lacking top flight experience given their age, it will be intriguing to see whether Bergvall initially starts in the Europa League group stage games and then potentially earns himself a spot in the Premier League XI.
Either way, it is a good headache for Postecoglou to have.
