Three Crystal Palace youngsters Oliver Glasner could use this week

Oliver Glasner’s team will be playing a friendly while in Marbella, here’s three Crystal Palace youngsters that could start vs Bodo/Glimt.

Joining the club in the midst of a busy February, Oliver Glasner has likely been too busy to really begin to share his footballing philosophy with the players in a meaningful way, as we have seen with some inconsistent performances so far from Crystal Palace.

Coming in during a game week, he likely has been focused on preparing for the upcoming games. But now with a slight break, he will have plenty of time on the training ground to improve his squad’s fitness and get them playing exactly how he wants.

With a friendly on Thursday against Bodo/Glimt, Glasner could also have the chance to play some barely-seen youngsters.

Here are three youngsters who could be handed a chance this week…

The first player we’d love to see Glasner give a chance to is right-winger Franco Umeh. The 19-year-old Irishman could be perfect to replace Jordan Ayew for this game as he deserves an opportunity.

This season he’s been clinical in the Premier League 2 for the Eagles with nine goals and an assist in 13 games which is an impressive return.

Umeh has only been at Selhurst Park for a year after being signed from Cork for just £64k. Glasner could do so with another option on the wing and so Umeh deserves to be the one to get that chance.

    David Ozoh

The next player we’d love Glasner to give a chance to is 18-year-old Spanish-born England U18 star David Ozoh.

Ozoh has been so impressive when handed the chance this season, such as his showstopping outing against Manchester City.

He’s played almost a dozen times this season for the senior side but is always used as a late substitute. He deserves a chance here to show he should be above Will Hughes in the pecking order for Palace.

    Naouirou Ahamada

21-year-old French midfielder Naouirou Ahamada is the final name we’re keen to see feature in this friendly game, and probably the most likely.

Ahamada is one of the players we were most excited to see under Glasner, but so far he’s not quite thrived. He has played just 44 minutes in the three games under Glasner and so he clearly has a way to go to impress the Austrian.

Signed for a substantial fee of £10.2m, Ahamada is a player whose expectations are high over and so Glasner should give him the chance to impress.
