The Telegraph drop the most exciting new striker claim West Ham fans could hope for

West Ham ready to go big with new striker signing as Graham Potter makes his priority clear. West Ham United desperately need to sign a new striker in the summer.

That point remains regardless of whether or not Graham Potter is able to bring Evan Ferguson to West Ham on a permanent deal. Potter is said to be planning a big squad revamp at the London Stadium when the summer transfer window opens. And boy, do we need a refresh.

The poor squad building from David Moyes, Julen Lopetegui and Tim Steidten over the past two or three years means that Potter and his recruitment guru Kyle Macaulay have a serious amount of mess to clean up.

There will undoubtedly be major change at the London Stadium in the summer, with the likes of Lucas Paqueta being linked with the exit door.

Even if we lose one or two key players, I don’t think it will be the end of the world. I want to see Potter mould the squad into exactly what he wants now.

And the addition of a new striker will be crucial to his hopes of achieving any kind of success in East London.

West Ham ready to go big with new striker signing

Whatever you think about our activity in the January window, or lack thereof, the future is very bright for the Hammers. I have no doubts in my mind about that.

There is one major hurdle facing Potter though, if he is to guide us to the promised land, and that will be getting the signing of an elite striker over the line.

According to a report from The Telegraph, West Ham are likely to ‘dig deep’ in the summer transfer window, and bring a top-class striker to the London Stadium. That’s incredibly exciting to hear.

The Hammers have really struggled when signing strikers over the past decade really.

If we’re being honest, West Ham have failed to properly replace Marko Arnautovic since his exit from the club six years ago.

Now it’s time for Potter to change all of that and bring an elite centre-forward to the London Stadium. Crucially, her needs to sign someone who suits his system.

Graham Potter makes his priority at West Ham clear

Despite the need for numerous different signings in the summer, Potter’s priority is obvious to see. Let’s say that we manage to sign Ferguson on a permanent deal in the summer.

That will be all well and good, but I still think the Hammers will need to sign a game-changing striker as well – a needle mover if you will.

I personally think Graham Potter should be going all out to bring a striker with explosive pace to West Ham, so we have a completely different option through the middle.

Someone like Jonathan David or Victor Boniface would completely transform the Hammers overnight.

Potter is clearly ready to make a very big splash in the transfer market this summer, and the addition of a new striker is obviously right at the top of his agenda. Rightly so in my eyes.
