“The story is over” – Manager not interested after player agrees to join Tottenham Hotspur

Last month, Tottenham Hotspur announced an agreement has been reached with Hajduk Split for Luka Vušković to join the Premier League side in 2025.

Two days ago, Hajduk appointed Mislav Karoglan as their new manager after parting ways with Ivan Leko. On Tuesday, Karoglan was presented to the media and was accompanied by club president, Lukša Jakobušić.

The 16-year-old has made 11 appearances for the first team and was overlooked by Leko in the last two months.

Jakobušić has stated the defender’s situation no longer concerns him after he agreed a deal with Tottenham, and his quotes are relayed by 24 Sata.

“That’s not a question for me. For me, that story with him is over, he stays until January, competes and trains with the first team. In agreement with the sports director and coach, when he is not competing for the seniors, he plays for the juniors, there is no obligation to play,” he said.

Due to Brexit, Tottenham cannot bring the Croatia U17 international to England until he turns 18 years of age, and have to find him accommodation at another club until then.

The centre-back will be at the Croatian club at least until the end of this year and earlier claims had stated his stay there could be extended if Hajduk were to agree a deal with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.

However, the Hajduk president has insisted that it’s best for the Croatia U17 international to go out on loan to a higher league to gain more experience.

“Continuity until January is important, and then we will agree with Tottenham where he will go on loan because he needs to go to a stronger league due to his visa, the idea is to bring [Dominik] Prpić back from his loan at Radomlje. The trainer has no restrictions,” Jakobušić explained.
