Time and time again we have to put up with poor refereeing performances, but this time a decision has been made that will adversely affect us off the pitch.
West Ham are scheduled to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League this time next week, on February 3rd.
Now, the reason why that is totally unacceptable in my eyes is because that day is when the January transfer window slams shut.
This is something that should never happen as far as I’m concerned, and now we’re clearly at a big disadvantage concerning transfer business, as are Chelsea as well. Just schedule us to play on a Saturday, a Sunday or even a Friday night!
And it has happened far too much in recent years for it to be a coincidence in my opinion.
West Ham unfairly treated by the Premier League
Back in 2024, West Ham were made to play a game on January deadline day – at home to Bournemouth at the London Stadium.
Said Benrahama was in the middle of joining Lyon whilst Pablo Fornals was at the London Stadium waiting to move to Real Betis.
The focus on the game meant that we couldn’t put everything into player recruitment on deadline day, and we ended up signing nobody.
That’s not all though…
Rewind back to the summer of 2023, and the same thing happened again, when we played Luton Town away from home on transfer deadline day.
I don’t understand why we are the team who have to deal with this yet again. It’s the third window in a row that it has happened now!
In my opinion, the Premier League owe West Ham a really big apology. And if the Hammers owners don’t get one, they should be asking questions of the Premier League.
