    The Hammers were awful…absolutely awful

    The Hammers were awful…absolutely awful

The Hammers were awful, absolutely awful so I’ll keep this as short as possible because whilst watching it was dreadful – writing about it is almost a punishment!

West Ham beat Backa Topola courtesy of a magnificent cross from the criminally under-used Maxwel Cornet – on as a second half sub to give Tomas Soucek his fifth goal in five games. Mind you, there are still those who want to see him gone which is ludicrous.

The Hammers had failed to get a chance on goal until then whilst Fabianski made a couple of decent saves – one from a chance created by the most careless of square passes from Cresswell. His was the most dangerous but as usual there was some dreadful passing from the team at large.

There was also one truly awful performance from the quite dreadful Said Benrahma who was dispossessed far, far too many times and made nothing happen at all down the left side.

    The Hammers were awful…absolutely awful

Truth? He’s not a Premier League footballer and was at his worst against a poor team tonight. The Hammers never really turned up until that late goal showing no energy, desire and body language which was truly scary. Benrahma might just as well have stayed in London.

James Ward Prowse – after a fine start to the season – looks to be losing his way and his set pieces were either off target or too easily read.

For all that we are still top of Group A and that’s all that will matter to many but most Hammers diehards surely want to see West Ham playing far differently so what we saw this evening.

Divin Mubama was given very little out of midfield on which to work but needs more games to show what he is really about.

It of course came as no surprise to see old man Ings replace him in the final stages of the game despite failing to score a goal all this season and for much of last!
