The fact that awful £53k-a-week West Ham man started against Fulham is an absolute joke

It was a real West Ham United horror show in west London against Fulham this afternoon.

Fulham put West Ham to the sword in the Premier League at Craven Cottage today, and it was such a disappointing performance from the players.

Listen, on our day we are a match for any team, but David Moyes has to find a way to get his Hammers side performing more consistently.

There were so many poor displays out there from the West Ham players today, but Aaron Cresswell took the biscuit in my opinion.

The 33-year-old, who earns £53k-a-week (Salary Sport), has slipped down the left-back pecking order at the London Stadium this season, with Emerson Palmieri usurping him, and it’s easy to see why.

Cresswell was heavily linked with an exit from West Ham in the summer, with Wolves believed to be close to signing him for around £4 million.

He remained at the London Stadium in the end, but he really should have been moved on. The fact that he remained at the club was rather annoying, but even more frustrating is the fact that he’s actually still starting games for us in 2023…

West Ham were shocking against Fulham

Cresswell was absolutely woeful against the Cottagers today. He is well past his best physically, has absolutely zero pace, and his positional awareness is still as poor as it has always been.

I get that Emerson wasn’t fully fit due to succumbing to a virus, but I’d have preferred to see Ben Johnson, Thilo Kehrer or even Ollie Scarles start ahead of Cresswell today.

The former Ipswich Town man should be anywhere near a Premier League squad, let alone a starting lineup!

Cresswell playing at left-back seemed to make Nayef Aguerd look even more shaky than he usually is as well.

It was a disaster all round for West Ham at Fulham today – an unacceptable performance from pretty much every player on the pitch. Cresswell was by far the worst though, and he was hooked at half-time by Moyes.

The only real positive I can take from that today is that Moyes can surely see now that Cresswell is done as a Premier League footballer, and we shouldn’t have to watch him play for us again in a game with any kind of importance attached to it.
