Tottenham striker Harry Kane joined Bayern Munich earlier this summer.
The 30-year-old is yet to win a single trophy in his club career and he will look to end his wait for silverware with the German club. Bayern Munich have a proven track record of challenging for major honours every year, and it remains to be seen whether Kane can guide them to major trophies in the coming seasons.
The former Tottenham striker has now claimed that he will look to play well into his 40s. The 30-year-old believes that he has only just started the second phase of his career and his footballing journey is far from over. With the advancement of sports science in recent years, Kane is hoping that he can add longevity to his career.
He said (h/t Sun): “The perception in football is you hit 30 and people think that is the end.
“But the way I am looking at it is that I almost have the second half of my career left.
“I played in the Spurs first team from 20 or 21, so I’ve had nine or ten years at the highest level and I’m hoping for another eight or nine years at the highest level again.
“It all depends. You see some players who want to make a change or have a different challenge.
“But, at the moment, I want to keep playing. With recovery, sports science and the way the game has adapted, you can play for longer.
“Look at all the players that you mentioned. That makes me believe and shows it is possible to play until your late 30s, and that is what I plan to do.”
Recently, there were rumours that Tottenham could get an opportunity to bring the player back to the club in the near future. Revelations about playing into his 40s will certainly spark hopes of a potential return.
Kane is undoubtedly one of Tottenham’s greatest players and the opportunity to bring him back to the club could be an attractive option for the North London club in the near future. Although he failed to guide them to trophies during his time at the club, his performances have been nothing short of outstanding and Tottenham will certainly hope that he can return to his boyhood club and win a major trophy with them in future.
