Julen Lopetegui has already shown us all that he’s lightyears ahead of former West Ham boss David Moyes with his tactics and footballing philosophy.
The Spaniard also made the Scot look silly with his extremely ruthless and efficient summer transfer business. However, Lopetegui’s impact at the London Stadium has been much more wide-ranging than the players he’s brought into the club.
The former Wolves boss clearly wanted to change things from top to bottom at West Ham, when he took over the club earlier this summer. And one change in particular that he made will make Moyes feel physically sick.
Julen Lopetegui made big behind the scenes West Ham change. Aside from the nine new arrivals at the London Stadium this summer, Lopetegui has obviously tried to change the culture off the pitch. Moyes prided himself on having a hard-working group of players, so the latest claim will surely make him feel sick to the pit of his stomach.
Lopetegui apparently wasn’t happy one little bit with one thing in particular at the London Stadium. The Athletic claim that the Spaniard has made an effort to improve the squad’s work ethic as a whole:
“Behind the scenes, the Spaniard has reduced the number of days off the players get as part of his drive to increase the squad’s work ethic.“ I love reading things like that as it proves Lopetegui has genuine ambition to take this club to the next level – something I’m not sure Moyes had.
Julen Lopetegui won’t accept mediocrity at West Ham
The Spaniard is quite clearly leaving no stone unturned when it comes to bringing success to the London Stadium.
Lopetegui’s diligence and professionalism has already shone through in the two months that he has been in charge of West Ham. The 58-year-old has acted ruthlessly and efficiently in the transfer market, and he clearly wants to instil a winning, hard-working culture at the club.
It was obvious to see during the second half of last season that David Moyes had lost the dressing room. The players’ efforts clearly dipped as a result, and it’s no surprise to me at all that many of them have been moved on by Lopetegui.
He is quite clearly not someone who will accept anything less than 100% effort from anyone involved with the club. The future for West Ham with Julen Lopetegui at the helm is very bright indeed as Far as I’m concerned.
