Super Striker wants West Ham United to make £12.8million bid as meeting called to break January transfer window deadlock
Boulaye Dia is hoping that West Ham will put in a bid to sign him during the January transfer window, according to Calcio Salernitana.
The Italian outlet reported via their website on 23 January that the striker “dreams” of the Premier League and wants a Hammers move to get there.
There have reportedly yet to be any offers made while Salernitana want a minimum of €15million [£12.8m], with Spartak Moscow very interested.
The Serie A side’s transfer window is said to hinge on selling the sought-after 27-year-old forward, with a meeting called between his camp and general manager Walter Sabatini intended to find a resolution to his future.
Ready and waiting
West Ham are seemingly in prime position to snap up the former Villarreal man if they want to follow through on their interest.
Dia’s goal return has dropped this season to four in the league so far as Salernitana sit bottom of the table, having netted 16 times on loan last term.
That is perhaps putting the Irons off, but how much his reduced impact in front of goal suggests last season was a one-off, or is down to the team struggling, is open to debate.
For an international striker who scored 16 times in a top European league last season, and should have a good few years left, the fee sounds very reasonable, and since West Ham need a goalscorer they could presumably do a lot worse.
Unless all the recent effort in the January window has gone towards bringing Kalvin Phillips in from Manchester City there must be something preventing the Irons from putting an affordable bid on the table.
It appears that Dia is both willing and available if West Ham want him to fill the gap that hasn’t been filled since Gianluca Scamacca left in the summer, so the next week might be now or never for him.
