Sullivan confidant says player could leave the London Stadium after just 13 starts for West Ham

David Sullivan confidant says it’ll be no surprise to see Hammer leave after just 13 starts for West Ham. Julen Lopetegui has brought so many good players to West Ham United this summer that the focus will now switch to moving on some of the deadwood.

The Hammers now have a bloated squad, and Julen Lopetegui should be looking to trim the fat. New PSR guidelines are now in place, and West Ham definitely will not want to fall foul of those.

The Hammers owners have spent some serious cash this summer, and now’s the time to claw some of that back. The only problem is that we haven’t actually got too many sellable assets that we can afford to lose in the summer transfer window.

Obviously Lopetegui will want to keep the likes of Lucas Paqueta and Mohammed Kudus, and moving on some of the under-performers on large salaries will be the game-plan for the Hammers head coach. One West Ham player in particular is being heavily linked with an exit from the club this summer.

Danny Ings set for West Ham exit

Hammers hitman Danny Ings faces an uncertain future at the London Stadium to say the least. After the arrival of Niclas Fullkrug, the 32-year-old has now fallen even further down the centre-forward pecking order under Lopetegui.

Back in January 2023, David Moyes convinced the board to part with £15 million to bring the striker to the London Stadium, but the Scot didn’t give the striker ample opportunities to shine.

And Ings has since admitted that he really struggled to settle into life at West Ham, due to his lack of regular game-time. Now, Claret and Hugh are claiming that it will be no surprise if the experienced forward is sold this summer, with just one year remaining on his deal.

The Hammers insiders suggested that that will only be case if ‘a package can be agreed with his next club to subsidise his wages’. Considering the fact that Danny Ings is on around £125k-a-week at West Ham, that seems unlikely. We’ll probably just end up releasing him next summer.

He has only made 13 starts in all competitions for West Ham over the past 18 months. Overall, the 32-year-old has made 52 appearances for the Hammers. During those games, he has bagged just four goals and two assists – a truly awful tally.

He’s proven to be a disastrous signing on every level for the Hammers, and the sooner he’s out the door the better as far as I’m concerned. Roma striker Tammy Abraham is back on the menu for West Ham United this summer it seems.

West Ham have been heavily linked with a move to sign Tammy Abraham for years now, and we apparently made an enquiry for him just 11 days ago. However, it was suggested that the 26-year-old striker preferred a move to AC Milan over the Hammers at the time. Could that have changed now though, considering how many exciting new additions Julen Lopetegui has made?

Possibly so. The Hammers are a really ambitious club and Lopetegui has an incredibly strong squad at his disposal now.

West Ham have already signed Niclas Fullkrug, but if Michail Antonio and Danny Ings are moved on this summer, the addition of another centre-forward will definitely be required. And it seems as though Tammy could well be the man for the job at the London Stadium.
