Steidten must have something special cooking as West Ham reportedly pull out the race for 24yo

Tim Steidten must have something special cooking as West Ham pull out the race for 24-year-old. West Ham United director of football Tim Steidten has been working around the clock to help Julen Lopetegui strengthen his squad this summer.

Tim Steidten and Julen Lopetegui are said to have already held numerous high level meetings about the summer transfer strategy at West Ham.

The Hammers boss is aiming to make at least six top quality new signings, and Steidten is now said to be out in Germany casting his eye over potential targets at Euro 2024.

He was responsible for the signings of Mohammed Kudus, Edson Alvarez and Konstantinos Mavropanos last summer.

All of those players have been successes at the London Stadium, especially the Ghana and Mexico internationals. Steidten is far from finished though, and seems to have more freedom in his role, now that David Moyes has left the club.

This time around, he played a key role in bringing Brazilian teenager Luis Guilherme to the London Stadium from Palmeiras.

Steidten needs to assist Lopetegui in signing players who perfectly suit the Spaniard’s system, if we are to make some genuine progress as a team. One player in particular would be the ideal addition for West Ham this summer, but it seems as though the German has turned his nose up at him.

The Hammers squad needs a big overhaul from top to bottom before the start of the new season.

Whilst the signings of a top-class striker and a high quality centre-back are absolute necessities, the need for a new left winger should be one of Lopetegui’s main priorities as well.

Since Said Benrahma and Pablo Fornals left the London Stadium, we haven’t had a right footer who can cut inside off the left.

And with that in mind, the latest claim coming out of the continent seems to be hard to comprehend at face value.

According to O Jogo, West Ham have pulled out of the race to sign Jota Silva this summer, with Fulham believed to be pushing hard for him.

Here’s the thing though – Steidten must have something very special up his sleeve if the Hammers are in fact no longer in the picture to sign the 24-year-old winger.

I believe that to be the case because Jota Silva is exactly what we need – a high quality right-footed left winger who’s available for a bargain fee – just £17 million!

Lopetegui only has around £90 million to play with this summer, according to a top football finance expert.

The Portuguese winger would be the perfect summer signing for West Ham, so it seems strange to me that we’re not even in the race for his signature anymore.

Silva possesses pace in abundance, a wicked shot, exceptional technical ability and is an extremely hard worker.

The attacker was in fine form out in Portugal last season, with 15 goals and seven assists to his name for Vitoria de Guimaraes.

If West Ham don’t sign Jota Silva, it can only mean one thing, and that is that Tim Steidten has another left winger lined up – one even better than the 24-year-old Vitoria de Guimaraes star.
