Steidten has reportedly struck immense deal, West Ham will be a problem for the Premier League

Tim Steidten has struck immense deal, West Ham will be a problem for the Premier League. West Ham United director of football Tim Steidten was receiving pelters from some sections of the fanbase only last week.

Tim Steidten joined West Ham in July 2023, and instantly made a big impact by helping to facilitate the signings of Edson Alvarez, Mohammed Kudus and Konstantinos Mavropanos.

He has proven to not only be a transfer maestro, but a good people person as well, and has been flying out to Brazil this summer to help Lucas Paqueta through his off-field issues.

The 45-year-old German played a key role in bringing Julen Lopetegui to the London Stadium as well, and took a parting shot at David Moyes in the process after the Scot’s exit.

His first year at West Ham was a strange one in the sense that it was successful for him from an individual perspective, but the team failed to achieve their goals on the pitch.

He will be wanting to see big improvements from the team this season and, alongside David Sullivan, has set Lopetegui a remit of getting the Hammers back inside the top six.

Steidten has to focus on his own job at hand as well though. Early last week there were plenty of dissenting voices about the lack of new signings at the London Stadium. That’s all changed now though, with the recent arrival of Crysencio Summerville, and the whole host of other imminent incomings.

However, there is one deal in particular that West Ham are close to wrapping up that really should have the Hammers fans buzzing.

Tim Steidten has struck immense deal for West Ham

The German has garnered the nickname as the ‘pearl-diver’, and he lived up to that with the signing of Luis Guilherme earlier this summer. However, the latest names being strongly linked with the Hammers are more experienced players.

That’s fine, you can’t go out and fill a squad with under-21 players – some kind of balance is required.

I think that Steidten and Lopetegui have nailed that balance this summer, and one player who’s reportedly set to join West Ham has got me really excited. Guido Rodriguez will undergo his medical today, ahead of his move to the London Stadium.

Sure, he might be 30, but Rodriguez is a sensational player, a proven winner and he has the perfect skillset needed to succeed in the Premier League.

He has won two league titles, a Copa del Rey, two Copa Americas and a World Cup. The Argentina international is incredibly robust, a tenacious tackler and has kept himself in immaculate condition.

For Betis last season in 24 La Liga outings, he averaged 2.2 tackles, 1.2 interceptions and 1.6 clearances per game.

During those appearances he made 43 passes per game on average and recorded a completion rate of 85.9% (Who Scored). The thought of Rodriguez lined up alongside Edson Alvarez in the engine room for West Ham is an extremely exciting one.

Those two will be a real problem for the rest of the Premier League, what with their aggressive approach to the game, the way that they both snap into the tackle and their incredible ability to get around the pitch. West Ham signing Guido Rodriguez on a free transfer will be a truly immense deal, and Tim Steidten deserves huge credit for identifying the Argentinian ace as an option for us.
