Tottenham Hotspur defender – and captain for the day – Cristian Romero has been labelled ‘disgraceful’ after he was spotted going straight down the tunnel immediately after the full-time whistle against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday.
Spurs suffered their 17th Premier League defeat of the season as they went down 4-2 at Molineux against a team below them in the table, as the pressure increased on manager Ange Postecoglou.
Romero Walked Straight Down Tunnel
He had no time to acknowledge the travelling supporters
Spurs would have been hoping to build upon Thursday’s more positive performance against Eintracht Frankfurt in the first leg of their Europa League tie, but things got off to the worst possible start within two minutes as Rayan Ait-Nouri gave the hosts the lead, before they doubled their advantage via an own goal by Djed Spence before the break.
Both Romero and fellow centre-back Ben Davies were nowhere to be seen for that goal, and he made an ‘utter mess’ of the third Wolves goal when he mis-controlled the ball, which allowed Ait-Nouri to take advantage again and allow Jorgen Strand Larsen to score.
Romero was given a 3/10 rating for his performance in the loss by Football London’s Alasdair Gold, and despite being skipper for the clash he was in no mood to hang around on the pitch at the full-time whistle to show his appreciation for the travelling fans.
Romero Could be Sold This Summer
Tottenham willing to sell for right offer.
sources revealed last month that Tottenham are refusing to rule out the possibility of selling the Argentina international this summer following interest from La Liga giants Atletico Madrid.
It was understood at one stage that Spurs would have demanded £60m to consider letting the 26-year-old leave, but the club have now relaxed their stance and could be willing to take £45m for the South American this summer.
