Sheffield United could face familiar foe against Tottenham who Son believes is a ‘good player

The Spurs captain is looking forward to seeing £47m Brennan Johnson in action and he could make his debut against the Blades this weekend. Sheffield United could well come up against a familiar foe when they make the trip to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday. Spurs splashed £47m on Brennan Johnson on deadline day in a signing that excites captain Son Heung-min.

The Blades need no introduction to the winger Son describes as a ‘very good talent’ having faced him plenty of times in recent seasons. Indeed, he has proven too sharp for the Blades to handle when they have met before.

He scored a crucial second goal in Nottingham Forest’s 2-1 play-off semi-final first leg at Bramall Lane in 2022 and then scored the opening goal in the second leg three days later. He was also involved in the opening goal of Forest’s 2-1 win over Sheffield United in the Premier League this season, racing down the right to lay the ball for Serge Aurier to cross for Taiwo Awoniyi to head home.

He featured for Wales during the international break, ironically against Son’s South Korea in a friendly on Thursday and is likely to feature again in the EURO 2024 qualifier against Latvia tonight. United first-team coach Jack Lester has been able to have a closer look at Johnson as part of Rob Page’s coaching staff.

Captain Son, opponents the other night, is looking forward to seeing him in a Tottenham shirt for the first time, which could well be Saturday against the Blades.
