Sean Whetstone reckons that the Spaniard has decided not to take up his option of a 12-month contract extension.
Now, whilst I would love Pablo to stay at the London Stadium, I kind of feel like he needs to leave in order to salvage his flagging career.
He has fallen well down the pecking order under Moyes since roughly this time last year and is nowhere near the starting XI now.
I’m actually very surprised that Fornals wasn’t allowed to leave in the summer transfer window.
The Spaniard is a really good footballer but he’s never been used properly by Moyes in my opinion. He is at his best when operating centrally, but whenever he does play he is shunted out on the left wing – a position where he is totally ineffective due to his lack of pace.
I believe that an exit from West Ham will be in the best interest of Pablo Fornals. Whether that will be in January or next summer remains to be seen.
