West Ham officially open negotiations to make ‘complete’ player their ninth summer signing. West Ham United are now thought to be closing in on a deal to sign a truly spectacular player.
Julen Lopetegui has enjoyed a wonderful summer transfer window so far, but his work is far from done in the market. The Hammers head coach wants further reinforcements at the London Stadium, as he looks to plug some of the gaps that still remain.
It has been suggested that Lopetegui’s main priority is now to shift on some of the deadwood, but that doesn’t mean that we won’t be signing any more players. Far from it in fact. West Ham just need to free up some salary space and generate more funds, and I have full faith that Lopetegui will bring in a couple more signings before the window slams shut. And one man in particular seems to be destined for a move to the London Stadium this summer.
West Ham eye ninth summer signing
Lopetegui and Tim Steidten have been relentless in their pursuit of the perfect summer transfer window.
Kudos to David Sullivan as well for providing the funds to make this all possible. And the Hammers are seemingly now intent on making our ninth summer signing. According to Sky Sports, West Ham have opened negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain about bringing Carlos Soler to East London.
It was claimed yesterday that the Hammers are prioritising a move to sign the £20 million-rated midfielder from PSG. And now Lopetegui, Steidten and co have clearly made an official move for the Spain international.
What would Carlos Soler bring to West Ham
The PSG star is literally the perfect player for us, and he has absolutely everything we are currently lacking in the middle of the park. He has been described as the ‘complete’ player (GFNS), and Soler has absolutely everything needed to succeed in the Premier League.
He bagged two goals and two assists in 24 Ligue 1 games for PSG last season, but only 12 of those appearances were starts. Despite playing just 1,089 minutes in the league last season, the Spaniard still averaged 30.8 passes per game, and registered a completion rate of 87.5% (Who Scored).
His ability on the ball and cool and composed nature makes him ideally suited to Lopetegui’s system, with the West Ham boss keen for his team to play out from the back and on into midfield.
Spending £20 million on Carlos Soler should be an absolute no-brainer for West Ham as far as I’m concerned. If he becomes our ninth summer signing, I’ll be absolutely delighted.
