West Ham United could replace David Moyes with a former Chelsea manager at the end of the season.
David Moyes is under real pressure in his role as West Ham manager right now, and the Hammers board could replace the Scot in the summer.
The West Ham fans are extremely grateful for what Moyes has done since he returned to the London Stadium in December 2019.
However, the general consensus is that he’s done now. The Scot can’t take us any further with his footballing philosophy.
The ironic thing is that if he had us playing like we did last night in every game, or at least set us up on the front foot, he’d have a job for life at the club.
It’s clearly not his style though, and we only play like that when Moyes has been backed into a corner. So if the 60-year-old does leave the London Stadium this summer, who will come in to replace him?
West Ham offer former Chelsea boss contract to replace Moyes
There was an ominous feeling at the London Stadium last night that the Scot’s time in charge of the Hammers is coming to an end.
And not because the performance against Leverkusen – that as a standalone was quite simply brilliant.
However, if we’re to make the jump up to the next level, Moyes needs to be replaced, and a potential name who could take his place will certainly raise some eyebrows.
According to a report from Il Messaggero, the Hammers have offered a contract to former Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri – a man we’ve apparently been chasing for around a year now.
The 65-year-old left his post as Lazio manager back in March, and is currently out of work as things stand.
Sarri moved to the Premier League from Napoli to take over at Chelsea in the summer of 2018. He only lasted one season at Stamford Bridge though, after struggling to keep pace with Manchester City and Liverpool at the top of the table.
The experienced Italian is well-renowned for the exceptionally attacking and easy-on-the-eye football that he implements.
It is a highly attractive playing style, and he has his team operate with a really high defensive line and a zonal marking system.
In my view, the Italian would undoubtedly get a tune out of the West Ham players, considering how much quality we have at the London Stadium.
And if he does replace David Moyes at West Ham, the football on display would be incredibly exciting to watch.
