Report: Villa to shine spotlight squarely on David Sullivan with £41m bid for ‘unstoppable’ attacker

Aston Villa to shine spotlight squarely on West Ham co-owner David Sullivan with £41m bid for ‘unstoppable’ attacker. Aston Villa could well be set to succeed where West ham United failed miserably last summer.

West Ham have been shown up in the transfer market by Aston Villa, Unai Emery, Monchi and their owners NWSE on numerous occasions recently.

The latest example of that was in January when Villa brought in Donyell Malen permanently, and Marco Asensio and Marcus Rashford on loan deals.

Graham Potter managed to sign Evan Ferguson on loan, although he did bring James Ward-Prowse back to the London Stadium after his failed loan stint with Nottingham Forest.

The Hammers squad is in urgent need of attention, and Potter is said to be planning a big revamp amongst the playing staff at the club this summer.

It’s just a shame that the Hammers didn’t make one or two more key signings when we needed to in January. The club had an absoltue shocker by failing to sign one particular player in the summer of 2024 as well.

Aston Villa to shine spotlight on Sullivan with Samu Aghehowa bid

So it seems like Villa could be about to succeed where the Hammers failed. According to a report from Caught Offside, the Villans are lining up a £41 million move to sign Samu Aghehowa from Porto when the summer transfer window opens.

The Spain international striker was actually believed to be close to joining West Ham back in the summer of 2024.

And now the Hammers owners could be made to pay for their failure to bring him to the London Stadium.

Aghehowa, who changed his last named from Omorodion back in November 2024, is an absolute powerhouse, and he’s been in exceptional form for Porto this season.

The 20-year-old has bagged 19 goals and three assists in 31 games for the Portuguese giants (Transfermarkt).

Described by Afrik-Foot as ‘unstoppable’, Omorodion has absolutely everything required to go on and become one of the very best centre-forwards in world football.

Now he could be Villa bound, and that’s a big blow for the Hammers. What really happened with West Ham’s Samu Aghehowa ‘bid’

The Hammers apparently made a £30 million bid for Omorodion in the summer.

However, somewhat bizarrely, he eventually joined Porto from Atletico Madrid for just £13 million (The Athletic).

So was our supposed £30 million bid even genuine? Or was the structure of the deal not to Atleti’s liking? Either way, something’s clearly not right.

And Aston Villa signing in the summer would signing the spotlight squarely on West Ham co-owner David Sullivan. If you want the best players, you need to pay top dollar for them.
