West Ham midfielder Kalvin Phillips was spotted deep in thought in his car at Rush Green this week after a nightmare few days, according to The Athletic.
After missing out on the latest England squad, the loanee also came on in the 4-3 defeat against Newcastle on 30 March, where he capitulated, to put it nicely.
Following the game, he went on to swear at a West Ham fan, and David Moyes was quick to defend his January signing after a shocking spell so far.

A lynchpin at Leeds and one of England’s standout performers on their way to the Euro 2020 final, Phillips was arguably one of the world’s best defensive midfielders at the time and received England’s Player of the Year award in 2021.
City signed him as someone to shadow Rodri as a world-class pivot, something Phillips has shown to be more than capable of on his day. However, those days have been few and far between, failing to impress across a smattering of appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side.
The West Ham move came out of a necessity to play and establish himself as a must in Gareth Southgate’s England squad, but his below-par performances have seen him dropped altogether.
Despite Moyes being a big fan, he’s yet to see anything to convince Hammers fans that Phillips’ loan has been anything other than a failure so far.
Something needs to change very quickly or his career could quickly slide away.
