Graham Potter is looking to sell West Ham trio with 153 international caps combined in the summer. West Ham United are in the midst of a mini-crisis right now, and Graham Potter is the man who’s been tasked with getting us back on track.
Graham Potter took over as the new West Ham boss just over one month ago now, and he has undoubtedly overseen some improvements as far as our playing style is concerned. However, good results have been hard to come by for Potter, with just one win to his name so far – the 3-2 victory against Fulham at the London Stadium last month.
James Ward-Prowse has already admitted that the players are struggling to implement Potter’s tactics at the moment.
It’s still very early days though, and if we all stick by Potter and support him, I’m convinced he will guide us to a sustained period of success in the near future. In order for that to be possible, Potter needs to spend some big money in the summer.
He is allegedly keen to oversee a big squad revamp at the London Stadium. Will the Hammers board back him? Or will it be a case of outgoings before incomings are possible?
Graham Potter could sell West Ham trio in the summer
The Hammers head coach will be well aware that the current balance of his squad is all wrong. Due to poor squad planning from David Moyes and Julen Lopetegui before him, he now has a serious mess to clean up.
The 49-year-old needs to make five or six big signings as a bare minimum this summer. However, a few players may well have to leave first in order to make that at all possible.
According to a report from Give Me Sport, Hammers boss Potter is planning somewhat of a clear-out at the London Stadium this summer. And three players in particular could be set for the chop.
Mohammed Kudus, Edson Alvarez and Guido Rodriguez all may well be sold when the summer transfer window opens. I have to say, and this would have been unthinkable at the start of the season, I don’t think West Ham would miss any of them.
Mohammed Kudus, Edson Alvarez and Guido Rodriguez set for the chop
In fairness, I wouldn’t be sad to see any of them leave the club in the summer, Rodriguez especially. Kudus is a special player on his day, but he lacks consistency, and it seems to me like he doesn’t even want to play for us right now.
Meanwhile, Alvarez is similar to his former Ajax teammate in the sense that he does possess genuine quality. However, he’s far too rash in the tackle, and has cost us on numerous occasions already this season by getting sent off.
Rodriguez is just painfully ill-suited to Premier League football, and he has proven to be a terrible signing from the outset.
Graham Potter needs to raise some cash this summer, if he is to complete the squad revamp he wants at West Ham. And selling those three players in the summer would undoubtedly bring in lucrative funds.
