Report: ‘One of the best strikers’ in his league is tempted by West Ham move, 23 goals last season

‘One of the best strikers’ in his league is tempted by West Ham move. The transfer window has been open for less than a month, but West Ham have already completed two signings with a third on the way.

Brazilian midfielder Luis Guilherme has joined the Hammers from Palmeiras, while veteran goalkeeper Wes Foderingham has arrived at the London Stadium on a free transfer.

West Ham are reportedly also set to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers defender and captain Max Kilman. Once the Kilman signing is over the line, the Hammers could look towards bringing in a new forward.

And according to a report from GiveMeSport, two overseas-based strikers are tempted by the prospect of joining West Ham.

Simon Banza and Youssef En-Nesyri keen on West Ham move

The players in question are Braga’s Simon Banza and Sevilla’s Youssef En-Nesyri. GiveMeSport have reported that Banza is tempted by the prospect of playing in the Premier League for the first time in his career.

Likewise, En-Nesyri is also open to embarking on a fresh challenge at West Ham, according to the report.

With West Ham having been given indications of both players being open to a move, formal bids could potentially follow in the coming weeks.

Banza reportedly has a £34million price tag, while En-Nesyri is valued at £21million, added the report.

Who is West Ham target Simon Banza?

Although reports of En-Nesyri being keen on a move to West Ham aren’t new, it’s the first time Banza is reported to also be tempted by a switch to the London Stadium.

The 27-year-old Democratic Republic of Congo international began his football journey at hometown club Creil before linking up with Chantilly’s youth team.

Banza then joined the Lens setup and rose through the ranks, taking in a number of loan spells along the way before breaking into the first team.

He made 99 competitive appearances for Lens, registering 18 goals and nine assists, before joining Braga in 2022 for a reported £2million fee.

The reported West Ham target’s career has gone from strength to strength in Portugal, with 23 goals last season. Surely it won’t be long before a big move beckons.

Scouting outlet Breaking the Lines has described Banza as ‘one of the most difficult strikers to defend in Portugal due to his tall frame, movement, and strength.

‘He always looks to target opposition defenders and wreak havoc – and despite his 6ft 2in frame, he is surprisingly mobile in his style of play, acting often as a brilliant facilitator.’

Meanwhile, Zach Lowy has described him on X as “one of the best strikers in Portugal”.

West Ham need to strengthen their attack so as to not have to rely on Michail Antonio and Jarrod Bowen as much.

With Banza and En-Nesyri seemingly keen on a move to West Ham, this is certainly a case of ‘watch this space’.
