One manager in particular is apparently being lined up to replace David Moyes as the new boss at West Ham United.
West Ham manager David Moyes is under real pressure in his role at the London Stadium right now, and a former Premier League boss is reportedly being lined up to replace him.
The 60-year-old Scot has been criticised for the poor style of football that he has implemented at West Ham but despite that, he recently suggested that a new contract is there waiting for him to sign.
The thing is, Moyes has worked wonders since he returned to the London Stadium for the second time in December 2019.
He has guided us to three successive European campaigns, and ended our 43-year wait for a major trophy last season by leading us to a UEFA Europa Conference League triumph.
Nobody can argue with the fact that the Scot has taken us to another level over the past four years, but can he oversee further progress? I’m not so sure that he can. And it seems as though West Ham have a potential replacement lined up for him…

If Moyes is indeed moved on at the end of the season, bringing in someone who can take us to the next level, and deploys a more attractive brand of football will be of paramount importance.
The catch is that whoever that may be has to get results as well. He can’t just implement pretty football but fail to get us into the European spots.
It is possible for the football to be easy on the eye and for the club to achieve success, but that obviously won’t happen overnight if a new man does come in.
According to a report from Give Me Sport, Graham Potter has plenty of admirers amongst the West Ham hierarchy – the 48-year-old was actually linked with the Hammers hot-seat 10 months ago when Moyes was once again feeling the heat, and under intense pressure.
Potter was sacked as Chelsea manager on this day last year – April 2nd, 2023.
He is a well-renowned ‘trust the process’ manager. It takes time for his ideas and philosophies to bed in but when they do, the football really is very pleasing on the eye.
His first three seasons with Brighton saw the Seagulls finish in 15th, 16th and the 9th place in the Premier League table.
Then, he got Brighton up to fourth in the table after six games before he left to join Chelsea. So those numbers are all evidence of a long process working out in the end. There are two questions though, 1) do the West Ham fans have the stomach for a long drawn out process, and more importantly 2) is he an upgrade on Moyes in the first place?
Personally, I think he is on another level to the Scot, and if given time to bed his ideas in, he’d be a huge success at West Ham.
I would be ok with a process manager – someone who beds in his ideas and philosophies over a period of time, as long as there is evidence that what he’s trying to do is working.
If Potter is the manager to replace Moyes, you won’t hear any complaints for me. I just hope that the fans are patient with him, if he is indeed handed the reins at the London Stadium.
