“Quite Special” – Leif Davis shares Ipswich Town promotion message with Leeds United cut adrift
Ipswich Town need only a point to secure promotion to the Premier League this week, sitting three points clear of Leeds United as things stand.
The top two was the aim for Leeds this season in the Championship, and while Daniel Farke’s side have managed a 90-point haul that would be enough in virtually every previous season, that hasn’t been the case this time around.
Leicester City and Ipswich Town’s frightening early-season pace set the tone for the campaign that underlined how anyone wanting to beat them to promotion would have to be pretty special themselves.

Ipswich Town on point away from promotion
After Leeds lost to QPR, the chance was there for Ipswich Town to cement their place in the top two with two games in four days to leapfrog Leeds, playing two of this season’s promotion hopefuls in Hull City and Coventry City.
Only managing a draw at Hull, anything other than defeat put Ipswich at a huge advantage for promotion going into the final weekend of the season.
Victory for them against the Sky Blues now means that only a point is required at home on Saturday for Kieran McKenna’s side, who face lowly Huddersfield Town.
A star of the show for Ipswich this season has been former Leeds man Leif Davis, who got himself fit for the trip to Coventry after ankle trouble at the weekend.

He didn’t add any more assists to his impressive tally of 18, but a win is all that mattered for his side, as he shared this message on Instagram:

Not many would have expected Davis to have the rapid rise he did when he left Leeds back in the summer of 2022.
However, he has been a remarkable signing for McKenna’s side and a focal point to everything they have achieved in that time.
It’ll be interesting to see how he fares in the Premier League next season, and if he continues in this vein, England recognition won’t be far away.
