Paul Robinson has praised Daniel Levy’s “clever” transfer call after Tottenham confirmed the permanent exit of Troy Parrott.
According to The Athletic [12 July], the 22-year-old striker joined AZ Alkmaar for £6.7million following his successful season-long loan with Excelsior in the Eredivisie.
Robinson believes the Spurs owner will have included a sell-on clause and add-ons in the striker’s move to the Netherlands following talks with Ange Postecoglou.
Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, he said: “You can understand it. With the world we’re in now, with FFP and PSR, he was a player that Postecoglou was unlikely to utilise next season and someone the club could get a good fee for.
“As a homegrown player, it’s a good price for him. We’re finding it a lot now that supporters don’t just watch the first team. They support the club all the way down through the academy, watching players come through to the first team and fans get excited.
“But now, there’s a lot of player trading with these younger players so fans are becoming disappointed because they haven’t been able to see them reach their full potential – Troy Parrott falls into this category.

Many fans will be disappointed to see Parrott leave the club on a permanent deal, especially after his sensational season-long loan at Excelsior last term.
The Ireland international, who has five goals in 23 caps, was in fine form in the Netherlands, tucking away 17 goals in 32 appearances in all competitions.
Chances have been few and far between for the Spurs academy graduate, managing just four first-team appearances in total, but fans would have finally seen next season as his opportunity to break through.
However, if Robinson is right about the clauses in the deal, this may not be the last time fans see Parrott in a Spurs shirt.
